About Me

  • About Me: I'm a commissioned officer (Lieutenant if you haven't guessed it) working at the Food and Drug Administration as a biomedical engineer.

  • Gaming Alias: First2Die, Tomahagne
  • Servers I Play On: BattleOn
  • Favorite Classic Arcade Games: Deep Scan
  • Most Addictive: Guitar Hero 3
  • Proudest Achievements: 1:59 on Costa di Amalfi in an Evo 3 (It's not great, but it's my personal fastest)
  • Favorite Soundtrack: The Cardigans - My Favorite Game
  • Clans: No clan in their right mind would take me. Think "Leroy Jenkins"

Food

  • Favorite Cuisine: the art of the sandwich
  • Favorite Dishes: a perfectly crafted sandwich is a rare & delectable thing
  • Favorite Desserts: forget desserts, give me more entrĂ©e!
  • Favorite Drinks: coffee: freshly ground, drip-brewed, and served cool
  • Favorite Junk Foods: cookies
  • Best meal ever: sesame-crusted pan-seared tuna with wasabi-temari dipping sauce
  • My Original Recipes: 333 chili. 3 meats. 3 beans. 3 alarm. conceived from the ground (pun) up by yours truly. I inevitably deviate from the written recipe because I don't have the ingredients it calls for, or I prefer a superior alternative. So in a sense, all of my recipes are "original."
  • Favorite Restaurants: Pasta Plus in Laurel, MD. It's a terrible name that conjures images of cheap watery spaghetti, but it's actually one of the most authentic and consistently well-prepared Italian restaurants. It's definitely a local favorite. Cheeburger, Cheeburger in Rockville, MD has THE best burgers I've ever tasted. They always get the doneness right and the meat just falls apart in your mouth. Best onion rings in the business! Has to be Rockville's. Columbia's Cheeburger is pretty lousy.
  • Foods I hate: Hate is such a strong word, but I'd prefer never to eat sesame leaves again.

Style

  • Where I shop: Threadless, outlets, and off-price department stores (e.g. Marshals, TJ Maxx, etc.) I can't resist a good bargain.
  • Brands I love: Threadless, Brooks Brothers
  • I like to wear: T-shirts & jeans. Swap jeans for shorts when it's hot out. I add hoodies and shells when it's cooler. Bundle up in my cozy toggle coat in the winter. I mix it up with sweaters, khakis, and parkas.
  • Can't live without: t-shirts
  • Prized Possessions: an old t-shirt from Old-Navy that's so threadbare I'm afraid it'll dissolve if I get caught in the rain.
  • Guilty Pleasure: t-shirts with bright colors and wacky graphics

Books

  • Favorite Authors: Alton Brown, Stan Sakai
  • Favorite Genres: shonen, graphic novels, science, cookbooks, fantasy, sci-fi
  • Favorite Characters: Usagi Yojimbo

Travel

  • Places I love: Miyajima, Hiroshima, Kusatsu, NYC
  • Places I've been: South Korea, Japan, Hawaii, Canada. I was briefly in North Korea, but it's not official.
  • Places to see before I die: Everywhere. I want to travel more. :'(
  • Dream Vacation: New Zealand in the spring. 2 months, a turbo AWD rental car, my camera & laptop, and a bottomless pit of money. I'd stop at all the restaurants, see all the sights, and camp out in the fields when no one is looking. 2 months of freedom in a beautiful country, doing whatever and whenever I want. Now THAT's a vacation.
