About Me

  • About Me: Jesus is my Lord and Savior and my life belongs to Him. I am a Spirit-filled Christian, desiring to live my life according to the principles of the Bible. I wish that meant I'm sinlessly perfect, but it doesn't. I do want to please God, though, and I'm very thankful for His grace and forgiveness! I'm the second of eleven children (oldest of nine girls), and I think it would be wonderful to have a large family of my own some day... but all in God's time! Meanwhile, I have a part-time job, live with my parents and most of my sisters, participate fully in the church of which my dad is the pastor, and look for ways to serve the Lord and be a blessing to others.

More About Me

  • Nationality: U.S. by birth, Kingdom of God by new birth
  • Religion: Atonement, Biblical Baptism, Charistmatic Christian, Divine Healing, Eternal life, Faith and Forgiving, Gifts of the Spirit, Holiness (set apart from the world to God), Inspiration of Scripture, Jesus the only way to salvation, Kingdom of God, Love, Mercy, Nonresistance, One God (eternally manifested as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), Prayer, Repentance, Spiritual Warfare, Tongues, Uncompromising truth, Victory in Jesus, Worship & Word, Yield to God
  • Interests: Art, Bible, Birds, Books, Camping, Cats, Christianity, Computers, Cooking, Crochet, Cross-stitch, Email, Flowers, History, Jesus, Kids, Music, Nature, Photography, Poetry, Puzzles (if they're not too hard), Singing, Travel, Word games, Writing (e-mails, letters, poems, songs, stories...).
  • Expertise: I'm far from being "the best" at anything, but I enjoy many different interests at an amateur level. For example... My Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems/PC Support is gradually being augmented by hands-on experience in the field. I read the Bible daily, so I think I'm pretty familiar with the Book... doesn't mean I understand it perfectly, though! I knows lots of songs to sing--not too much pop/contemporary stuff, but I can make a stab at more old folk songs, praise choruses, and kid's songs than you can shake a stick at... I might not have them all Right, but who will notice when they've never heard the song before anyway? I can write a poem that rhymes AND has a consistent meter AND possibly even makes sense on more than one level (but I don't follow those rules every time). I can paint halfway decent pictures, sew my own clothes (if I have to!) and cook food that is edible and often tastes pretty good, too.
  • Occupation: Computer related

Books

  • Favorite Books: The Bible is the Best Book, but I read many others when I have the time and inclination. I avoid books that would not make G-rated movies, or that involve magic, bad language, or promotion of values I am strongly opposed to. And I hate suspense and will read the endings of books before deciding to read the whole thing.
  • Favorite Authors: British: Jane Austen, Jerome K. Jerome, Arthur Ransome, Miss Read, Patricia St. John, Anthony Trollope... American: Louisa Alcott, Emily Kimbrough, Laura Ingalls Wilder... And ever so many others, but not necessarily every book by any given author.
  • Favorite Genres: biography, family stories, first-hand history, humor, life in other countries/cultures/times, inspirational, mild mysteries, moderate romance (depending on the other themes in the story), poetry, travel, true adventure stories (with happy endings), village life
  • Favorite Quotes: "As a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death, so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says 'I was only joking'." "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer." "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." "This is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." And many, many more!

Food

  • Favorite Drinks: Milk, fruit juice, hot tea with milk and sugar, home water...
  • Foods I hate: Spicy hot food, raw vegies, bell peppers, onions, fungi, organs, meat that bleeds, things that look like bugs...

Travel

  • Places I love: Home, certain parts of England, anywhere I have friends, scenic places that aren't exorbitantly expensive
  • Places I've been: Much of the U.S. East of the Mississippi, west as far as the Bighorn mountains, parts of Canada north of Minnesota and Michigan, England, Switzerland, and Guatemala
  • Places to see before I die: Israel
  • Dream Vacation: Going farther West, going to New England, seeing more of the U.K., or other parts of Europe with someone who knows both English and the language of that country

Style

  • I like to wear: Comfy clothing that isn't tight or skimpy, that is easy to take care of, and that (hopefully!) looks neat and conservative. Skirts. Head-coverings. Socks (usually). Occasional unobtrusive accessories.

Music

  • Favorite Artists: (Composers) Bach, Handel, and at least some of the music of many others from all different eras of classical music. I don't really follow the individual "artists" much... it's more a matter of whether or not I like the music. There are, to be sure, singers and musicians that I Don't care for!
  • Favorite Genre: Baroque, Bluegrass, Choral, Christian, Classical, Kids, Hymns, Real worship (as opposed to simulated immitation-worship, recorded and marketed for profit), Sacred, Traditional folk.
  • Songs I hate: I do NOT like most contemporary music. Especially rap or heavy metal. Pop and country are sometimes very catchy, but the words can be appalling... (The same, for that matter, goes for opera, old ballads and folk songs, etc.--even so-called Christian music sometimes--one must always be careful!)
