About Me

  • About Me: 'Under Construction' by my Lord and Savior... "I will strengthen them in the LORD" (Zec 10:12, KJV) ~ "Unto you that fear [M]y name shall the Sun of righteousness arise." (Mal 4:2, KJV) ~ "LORD, what wilt [T]hou have me to do?" (Act 9:6, KJV) ~ "I will instruct thee and teach thee." (Psa 32:8, KJV). [Notice/Disclaimer: The host provider's sponsored and outside links & banners placed on this UntoTheLORD Xanga blog are not necessarily a representative of my own personal beliefs/views, nor necessarily recommended. Please do pray & use Christian biblical discernment, and/or ask your parents (especially if you are under age 18).]

Style

  • Where I shop: Christian Rescue Mission Thrift Stores, Goodwill, online clearance and sales(e.g., 'gently used' & 'reconditioned' items), eBay ('pre-owned' or 'vintage' modest/conservative clothing --it is much easier to quickly find specific sizes & styles on eBay than wandering through retail shopping malls). Before the Lord saved me, I exclusively purchased most items brand new from retail stores without considering other more frugal means, but the Lord helped me to realize later that we are to be good biblical stewards of all what God gives us, & to limit exposure of worldly, immodest clothing styles, as well as cut off unecessary temptations to lust over things & buy unecessary 'stuff.' ~I am thankful to God for all those sermon exhortations on these various subjects from our dear Pastors at church!~ Therefore, I am prayerfully endeavoring to carefully research first & primarily purchase necessary 'pre-owned' 'vintage' or 'reconditioned' items instead, and only needed/useful spiritual helps (e.g., biblical books/media) that are good for our own souls and growth in grace... and also, by God's provision, to give to Gospel Work more, so that God's Word would be increasingly proclaimed & taught, and biblical grace truths be declared in Christ's name to the many who haven't heard the Gospel & are in need of a Savior; as well as to help poor brethren & those in need.
  • Brands I love: Again, if available, used/vintage/pre-owned -or- selected new on-sale/clearance items: (Dresses, jumpers, longer skirt sets) Chadwick's, Coldwater Creek, Talbots, Eddie Bauer (conservative styles only), J.Jill, Laura Ashley, Gunne Saxe :-) , Custom-made (e.g., from Mennonite, Amish), Garlands of Grace (hand-made headcoverings/prayer & worship coverings).
  • I like to wear: Headcoverings/prayer coverings, kitchen apron, long dresses, jumpers, skirt sets, sweaters, and vintage coats. In obedience to God's Word for women to adorn themselves with modest apparel, I am prayerfully endeavoring to be more conscious about selecting & wearing conservative/modest apparel (at least mid-calf & longer) that are NOT too tight, form-fitting, or see-through, & are reflective of biblical Christian modesty and femininity. More examples include: Feminine long dresses/long skirts that do not show much skin (NO shorts, sleeveless tops, low-neck/back styles, slits/walking vents on skirts/dresses), NO pants (with exception of exercise, outdoor rugged wear, & winter pj's), especially NO tight-fitting, masculine/menswear, or 'trendy-' type pants; and nothing that would be too distracting to others (NO overly brights, loud colors, & busy patterns, and flirtatious styles like from the fashion models on magazines). Preferable styles are ones that portray biblical womanhood, distinctive femininity, simplicity, purity, peacefulness, & reverence toward God--especially the apparel worn during worship services, prayer meetings, & other times when the church is gathered together (including church picnics and other outdoor activities). There really is no excuse for professing Christian women of any age to justify certain revealing, tight, and questionable clothing styles for the sake of *their own* comfort and preference. Well, sisters in the Lord who are reading this, do I hear an 'AMEN' ? (I hope and pray so!)... But to any of those who, after reading this, might decide to purposely ignore and continue to dress in a worldly, immodest, masculine, innapropriate way to either be attractive and get attention from others, or who do not really care about your appearance, or who are 'tomboys' or 'sport jockettes': May you be convicted & repent, by God's grace... Dear ones, if you are a true child of God, you will prayerfully please Him by Gospel purity, piety, & godliness in your own heart, outward appearance, & in your Christian walk & lifestyle---endeavoring to follow our Lord and Savior & His Word, by His grace. Remember, what you wear outwardly is a reflection of what is going on in your heart & life. Be warned that there are certain clothing styles that will instill worldly & wicked pride, and an ungodly independent spirit in your heart & walk before the Lord (e.g., trendy pants, structured suits that look like menswear, stilletto high-heels, tight/sensual-type styles, being overly preoccupied with cosmetics, your body figure, hairstyles/hair color, nails, accessories like jewelry, bags, latest fashion 'trends,' etc.). Basically, what you wear will most likely dictate how you'll feel & act outwardly (e.g., Have you ever worn sports clothing? Did you feel a little less feminine? -Of course you did. Studies have been made that what you actually wear affects your mood & attitude). And please, endeavor to be prayerfully conscious of all your brothers in Christ who see you, as well, for you do not want any of God's people to stumble into sin either. May all be a godly example, not a stumblingblock. Be careful of what and how you wear clothing... remember to be a meek & quiet spirit (1 Peter 3:4), and do so to the glory of God. One other point while on this subject... may women grow old gracefully & conservatively -please pray about not being artificial (hiding your beautiful gray & white hairs that God gave you as you age), & to be careful not to revert back to your more youthful days (e.g., older women wearing younger styles like Junior girls clothing)... remember dear ones, there is a time and season for everything. If you're older, embrace it and thank the Lord, & be more of a godly example, in the heart and outwardly -by God's grace, that you may endeavor to prayerfully help the younger women in their biblical roles, especially with domestics (as Titus 2 commands)... Thank you to all dear patient ones who read all of this up to this point! -Praise God you read this far, I pray the following would also be a help to you in your own Christian pilgrimage... Food

  • Favorite Cuisine: ~SPIRITUAL FOOD~
  • Favorite Dishes: (Spiritual Food) Our Daily Bread from God's Word; (Physical Food) Nothing really fancy or difficult to make; 100% Certified Organic, fresh, simple, flavorful with herbs, raw or slightly cooked (avoiding microwaved food), natural, healthy, whole grain recipes; simple/small portions, prepared with Christ's love; and served and shared with others, and with prayerful thanksgivings as *unto the LORD* Also, by God's grace, I have been convicted, and after much research, am now trying to be more careful about food/beverage choices (e.g., reading food labels more), and trying to find ways to be more of a biblical steward and frugal about organic and 'green' shopping. Recommended supermarkets: The Organic Departments at any regular supermarket, such as ShopRite (look for discounts and coupons); Trader Joe's (many organic items, reasonably-priced organic produce and organic dried fruit); and Whole Foods Market (a larger market with many organic, vegan items, although generally higher in price...look for store brands and seasonal discounts). Organic packaged foods could get very pricey after awhile, so the best frugal way is to begin one own's organic garden, or shop seasonally and be a part of a local community co-op for organic produce (to buy in bulk, and then prepare, freeze, and jar produce, such as jams, pickles, etc....or share the extras with church families and friends) . [Lord willing, I'd like to research more on organic, nutritious, healthy, vegan, mediterranean, asian, vegetarian meals, and using more organic herbs and preparing raw organic food (e.g., uncooked & slightly cooked).... Lord willing, I'm planning to read and try recipes from Mrs. Serene Allison's book, Rejuvenate Your Life Recipes, & watch her accompanying DVD, Rejuvenate With Serene; as well as praying for God's provision for healthy meals using a Vita-Mix 5200 Deluxe set (to prepare fresh whole food drinks and recipes), healthy cookware (available on Dr. Mercola's website), a dehydrador (to make homemade dried fruit, etc.), an AeroGarden organic herbal kitchen kit, and the Earth Box organic garden kit.]
  • Favorite Desserts: Organic low-fat/skim kefir fruit smoothie and fruit protein shakes (dear husband likes these, as well); plain and fresh organic fruit mix.
  • Favorite Drinks: (Spiritual Drink) Psalm 42:1, 2 KJV "...As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after [T]hee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?" And also, Ephesians 5:25-27 KJV: "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave [H]imself for it; That [H]e might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, That [H]e might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." (Physical Drink) H2O; 100% Certified Organic Orange Juice; Organic Apple Juice; Organic Vegetable Juice; Organic Coconut Water; Organic Lemonade; Organic Herbal Teas (Trader Joe's); Organic Herbal Coffee (still yet to try it someday, God willing); Emergen-C (Vitamin C fizz drink).
  • Best meal ever: ~WORD OF GOD~
  • Favorite Restaurants: Homemade & packaged healthy, organic, & natural meals that are cooked or prepared at home, especially for my dear husband. :-) Also, sharing fellowship meals at church and homes, and those cooked by dear sisters in Christ of church families, are always a blessing and much better than eating at any restaurant!

Music

  • Favorite Artists: Reverent & worshipful congregational singing (from The Psalter, The Book Of Psalms, Trinity Hymnal, and Psalms & Hymns of Reformed Worship), sung together in their original form (NOT modernized or stylized), in humility & unity ~as *unto the LORD*
  • Favorite Albums: Worship with Hymns Vol. 1 & 2 (for use with Trinity Hymnal, Baptist Edition); piano worship selections from The Psalter (available online/included some links on my Xanga posts of Psalter selections); The Complete and Unaltered Text of Psalm 119 from the King James Bible in the form of Musical Settings; Various psalm-singing albums from The Book Of Psalms (Crown & Covenant Publications); Great Things He Hath Done, Within His Temple Sing His Praise (Heritage Voices/Reformation Heritage Books); Hymns Triumphant; Men Sing Thy Praise O God/Psalms, Hymns, and Psalters II and III, Consider The House of The Lord, Come Bless The Lord, Prayer For Grace, 'Songs of Adoration Bring' (Mattaniah Male Choir).
  • Favorite Songs: Those From: The Psalter (available at Reformation Heritage Books); Trinity Hymnal; Psalms & Hymns of Reformed Worship (available at Metropolitan Tabernacle Bookshop, U.K.); The Book Of Psalm Singing (available at Crown & Covenant Publications); The Psalter Hymnal; The Trinity Psalter; The Psalms Of David (available at Trinitarian Bible Society); Accapella Christ-centered Psalms & Hymns; Traditional Gospel Hymns; King James Bible Text or Scripture Songs; Instrumental, classical, and Geneva Foundation recordings (available on Vision Forum Ministries); Missions-focused Hymns --but only for accompaniment on documentaries and ones that are sung reverently & worshipfully, and done in simplicity and for God's glory... [*Please note that these do NOT include: "Christian" Contemplative Hymns; "Christian" songs that have a modernized/stylized way (or sway) about them; New-Age/Mystic sound; "Christian" Contemporary Music (CCM); "Christian" Contemporary mixed or 'Blended' style of 'worship' music; "Christian" Rock; "Christian" Heavy Metal; "Christian" Alternative or Soft Rock; "Christian" hip-hop music; "Christian" jazz; and "Christian" Charismatic Praise & Worship (e.g., Integrity Music)... Please beware of all of these, as many are worldly counterfeits cloaked over with the name "Christian" on it & diversions to godly growth... And please be warned, be discerning when any of these types of ('strange fire') music might 'creep' into the church worship services or singing, for as it is evident within some in the Christian churches, these types of modern lusts for 'new and better' (and 'seeker-friendly') worship services and experiences will almost certainly lead to further declension and worldliness in churches today (e.g., the 'Emergent Church' movevement)... So by the grace of God, may His people endeavor to PRAY, WATCH, and WALK aright on the NARROW WAY (Mat 7:14), following Christ, and pleading to God that it would be His will that such and other grievous departures from orthodoxy and orthopraxy will not be so (including within your own church and home worship)... Always remember: Jeremiah 6:16 "...Ask for the OLD PATHS, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls..."]

Movies

  • Favorite Movies: We haven't watched a big-screen movie for many years (and do *not* recommend it to anyone, unless it is a 'must-see' for Christian biography, history, and educational purposes...but even then, it is more frugal to wait for it to be available on DVD). On very rare occassions, we do watch the free documentaries available on Google movies for Christian history, evangelism, and apologetics (to learn more about other religions and cults). We also sometimes watch short DVDs from seminaries introducing their curriculum, as well as some sermons and theology modules, Christian ministry introductions, and persecuted church reports. If we had the time to watch more, choices would be more conservative Christian documentaries and biographies (e.g., History of the Bible, History of the Church, Protestant Reformation, Missions/Missionaries); and some of the recent educational/inspirational/documentary Christian films available by Franklin Family Films, Vision Forum Ministries, Open Doors USA, Voice Of The Martyrs, and New Tribes Missions. [Just a note of caution: Please monitor your household (especially children to college-aged) and BEWARE of TV shows, movies, any other forms of entertainment, including sports, newscasts, and talk shows (including those freely available on the internet)... if not careful, they can all become addictive, a big time-waster, and may lead to rebellion, spiritual neglect -even declension into worldliness.]

More About Me

  • Religion: Born-Again Christian ~by God's Sovereign, Electing, Merciful, Manifold GRACE
  • Interests: By God's grace,it is my prayer to depend upon the Lord to plan & do as He wills. This blog was started to organize/record practical duties &updates for various projects &responsibilities: Personal walk w/the Lord,homemaking/household roles/duties (e.g.,nutrition/health,exercise, biblical stewardship, frugal living),serving the Lord @ church & through personal ministries w/ my dear husband (e.g.,Gospel letters;Reformed/Puritan outreach & other helps), Christian events, projects, education,&volunteer work...and all done as *unto the LORD*~by His Grace. Some entries may include doctrinally-sound/faithful devotionals, sermons/notes,hymns,& related links of interest. Also, this blog is for my praises, prayer requests, biblical roles, goals,plans,church-based ministries,&Christian organization/ministry involvement...To God be ALL the Glory~for I am just a pilgrim passing through...Dear brothers & sisters in Christ, this world is passing away: Occupy&PRAY we all fight the good fight of Faith!
  • Expertise: I have no 'expertise'...but I do take notes, observe,& have lots of questions! As 'iron sharpeneth iron,' may we seek to 'exhort one another' in love&concern w/the Word of God.In my prideful worldliness&blindness to the Gospel,God mercifully convicted me of my sin against Him & my need of Christ Jesus as my personal Savior&Lord.I was then exposed to unbiblical teachings/practices,so today,I intercede in prayers for the doctrinal purity&sanctity of Christ's Church, biblical observance of LORD's Day Sabbath, pursuit of personal holiness, cultivation of spiritual-mindedness in a day of worldliness/lukewarmness, &Spirit-wrought fear/reverence of God in all aspects of Christian life inside/outside of church...all while trusting &rejoicing in Him.I,myself,am still 'under construction' by my Lord&Savior, but I am prayerfully endeavoring to humbly learn God's Word,at the Feet of Jesus,&be about my Father's Business(prayers would be very much appreciated;thank you, dear ones).~Look*unto the LORD*

Travel

  • Places I love: Places where God is at work amongst His people where there is much thirst and hunger for His Word, and a desire to obey and reform to biblical Christianity; and places where His Holy Spirit convicts many lost souls of their sin against Him, that they repent weeping for forgiveness through the LORD Jesus Christ.
  • Places I've been: (U.S.A.) HI, CA, NY, FL, MS, MA, NJ, CT, PA; (Europe) France, Great Britain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Holland.
  • Places to see before I die: Not knowing if the Lord will gloriously return during my earthly pilgrimage, or take me Home before then, I am praying that it would be in God's will and provision that my dear husband and I would be able to visit the following places (some, once again), mainly for Gospel work and ministry helps: (U.S.A.) FL, HI, PA, MI, LA, MS, AL, AZ, NH, VT, VA, D.C., TX, ME, RI, MA, NY, SC, NC, MN, WA, CO, CA, TN, OH; (Europe) France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union; (Other) Canada, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Pacific Islands, Hong Kong, China, New Zealand, Australia, South America, Mexico, Africa, India, Middle East. Any or all, the Lord willing. Also, visiting and learning more about these countries, their culture, and faithful Gospel work (e.g., Reformed ministries) for each country over the internet would still be a blessing!

Books

  • Favorite Books: The Holy Bible, Authorised Version/King James Bible (http://www.trinitarianbiblesociety.org); The 1599 Geneva Bible (http://www.reformedreader.org/gbn/en.htm)
  • Favorite Authors: Personally, I prefer to read godly writers who are now with the Lord; and living authors/preachers who are biblical, conservative, filled with the Spirit of God with holy boldness and seriousness, as well as those who are aged in senior years and walking closely with the Lord. Although I try generally keep informed in order to be more discerning about current church and Christian trends, I purposefully stay away from purchasing/reading/listening to mainstream, contemporary, "cool" youth-oriented, funny, entertaining, charismatic, sounds-like-the-world, and lukewarm authors/speakers. Some examples of those authors I prefer to read from/listen to are: David Brainerd; Arthur W. Pink; J. C. Ryle; George Mueller; James A. James; John Owen; Charles Bridges; Thomas Goodwin; Thomas Boston; Albert N. Martin; Jeff Pollard; Paul Washer; Peter Masters; Joel Beeke; David Lipsy; Douglas Phillips; Scott Brown; most Puritans/Reformers; and Various Authors published by Banner Of Truth Trust Puritan Paperbacks, Chapel Library (a ministry of Mt. Zion Bible Church), Reformation Heritage Books, Solid Ground Christian Books, Soli Deo Gloria Publications, Sovereign Grace Publishers, and Vision Forum Ministries. In addition, I prefer to read/listen to more *male* authors/preachers who are conservative and Reformed in doctrine and practice. I hardly ever read any female authors for doctrine/theology or significant spiritual food, and I especially do *not* recommend or endorse those that write/speak/teach regarding general Bible studies/theology (which men really ought to be teaching instead). I personally believe women should be limited to only co-teaching Bible subjects to their own children in partnership along with their dear husbands, and to the biblical Titus-2 teaching of younger women regarding subjects specific for women, such as wives loving their husbands and children, biblical womanhood/piety and domestic practical matters of homemaking, hospitality, child-rearing, and ministry of helps -see further below. From time to time, I may read portions from a few Titus-2 examples of godly women who are now with the Lord regarding their own spiritual walk with Him and their church/ministry/family lives (e.g., Mrs. Mary Winslow, Octavius Winslow's mother); and only on occassion, I may read some female living authors (e.g., those available from Vision Forum Ministries, missionary wives ministering to those in need at home/in the field, and preferably Reformed, godly women) who endeavor to minister to girls and women regarding practical subjects such as: Biblical Womanhood/Singlehood/Purity/Courtship/Marriage Roles, Biblical Femininity/Christian Modesty, Domestics/Hospitality (e.g., Mrs. Nancy Campbell of Above Rubies), Home/Time Management (e.g., Christian FlyLadies, Mrs. Catherine's homemaking and illustrated Xanga blog and those from other stay-at-home wives and homeschooling mothers), Exercise (e.g., Mrs. Laurette Willis of PraiseMoves, A Christian Alternative To Yoga), Frugal Living (e.g., Biblical Womanhood Online), Organic Cooking/Raw Recipes (e.g., Mrs. Serene Allison), Natural Home & Cleaning/Sustainable Home & Green Living How To's, and selected books on Biblical/Nouthetic Counseling (only for ministering to myself and other women, as the Lord leads, about concerns particular to women). I also try to exercise discernment and do *not* read or endorse any author that attempts to diminish -or even usurp- the rule and roles of biblical husbands and parents, the biblical teaching and oversight of faithful Pastors, or the assembly/gathering of the biblical local church.
